Things were even more shit for the vast majority of the population back in those days.
The countries with the most socio-economic equality and the happiest population all have higher income taxes, don’t rely on tariffs to finance their government and offer solid social programs financed by the State.
Those tariffs are going to hurt everyone and mostly people like you and me.
Remember how much more equal the US population was back in the day?

The right doesn’t understand that money spent stabilizing things elsewhere ends up saving money locally. That includes actual aid to poor countries, like condoms going to a country with an AIDS epidemic!
Why not celebrate government cuts? Because all the countries in the world where the standard of living is the best have a strong public service managing social programs!
