Because Biden appointed a bitch instead of someone who would actually do their goddamn job.
That’s nice, we can set it beside the “Thursday night massacre” of the DoJ that happened last week. Only slightly higher, so we get a nice two-level effect with a path going down the middle and HOLY FUCKING SHITBALLS WHY AREN’T THERE MILLIONS OF US RIOTING IN THE STREETS RIGHT NOW‽‽
True! But also shutting out AOC is itself an example of said corporate bootlicking, so it’s not so much of a “well, and” as it is an “including.”
Just stop paying up because he won’t comply with the freeze?
In order to “just stop paying up” the states would have to convince their citizens and businesses to stop paying their Federal income taxes and payroll taxes, because that money goes directly to the Federal government without passing through the states’ control first.
As far as I can tell, the only part of the Federal budget revenue that flows through the states and therefore might be able to be blocked is small enough to fit in the “misc/other” slice on a pie chart.
How the Hell does someone have a background as both a cybercriminal and a GSA employee at 19? I mean, sure, you can be a cybercriminal as an adolescent. But why is the GSA even hiring anybody that young at all?
Republicans are not the fucking “party of Lincoln” and haven’t been since Nixon’s “Southern strategy.” Stop repeating their lies.
Biden squeaked by only because Trump fucked up the pandemic so badly. That does not mean he would’ve won in 2016.
I hate to break it to you, but Biden did eventually appoint enough people to the postal board that he could’ve gotten rid of DeJoy if he’d picked appointees based on their opposition to them. But he didn’t. For some unfathomable reason, he chose to appoint DeJoy supporters instead.
It’s not funny this time, though.
LOL, nah. Pretending people were too sexist to vote for Hillary and some white male neolib would’ve done better is nothing but a fantasy neolibs tell themselves to try to excuse their corporate bootlicking.
No, I have no interest in being baited into getting banned.
But never mind that; can I infer from your lack of rebuttal to my actual argument that you concede the point?
I think the “offered nothing to the working class” part was a much bigger factor than the “genocidal monsters” part in the Democrats’ loss, but otherwise, I agree.
The headline should’ve read something like “Trump unilaterally forces America to switch sides” instead.
Keep in mind that the state’s voter base being on the bubble is very different from the state’s government being on the bubble. Because of “winner take all” voting systems, there are a bunch of states with a thoroughly “purple” constituency but which nevertheless have a Republican stranglehold on all the levers of power.
I don’t doubt the notion that 2016 Trump ran as a grift and wasn’t really hoping or expecting to win, but 2020 and 2024 Trump had tasted power and definitely wanted it back, in addition to staring down 100 barrels of jail time.
Well yes, but actually no.
First of all, don’t get me wrong: I’m saying this as a massive fan of Sanders, and someone who thinks he is way more on-the-ball about the current situation than pretty much any other non-Republican nationally-significant politician (except maybe for AOC).
That said, even he is still partially in denial/massively understating the problem/playing catch-up. Trumpism doesn’t just “not believe” in democracy, it is acting on that belief right now to destroy it. When the attack is already in progress, you don’t say “Trump doesn’t believe in democracy,” you say “Trump is destroying democracy.”
Who said anything about that? If that’s what you want to talk about, it should happen in a different instance.
That said, in the abstract and speaking generally, a single instance of a particular tactic within a broad category of strategy failing does not disprove the efficacy of the entire broad category.
They made that statement in the headline.
Until they fear anti-fascists more, they will continue to capitulate to fascism.
